Essex Island Marina

Over 50 years ago, the son of a German immigrant made an investment that would end up changing the course of history in a small corner of the world. Essex Island, a small island surrounded by the Connecticut River and the North Cove inner channel, was purchased by Louis W. Schieferdecker in 1955. Such was the beginning of a family tradition that is unsurpassed in the industry.

Essex Island Marina began simply as a boat yard and a few slips. But there was potential, and "Lou" had a vision. During the first decade, the marina developed and experienced growth in services and amenities. As time went on, more docks were added, the swimming pool was installed, and the Deck and the gamerooms were built. Most recently, the addition of the Guest Services office and the Eagle's Roost communication center have completed our repertoire.
