| In downtown Danbury, Connecticut just off routes I-84 and 7 is the unique Danbury Railway Museum with ample parking, modest admission prices and good restaurants nearby. There in the beautifully restored 1903 railroad station are historically significant exhibits and model trains which fascinate children of all ages. Guides will take you through the original full sized railroad yard filled with over 50 locomotives and cars, some in operation and all being carefully restored. Ride the Railyard Locals which run every Saturday from April through October and visit the operating turntable. Special weekends occur for Easter Bunny train rides, a Haunted Railyard at Halloween and Santa Trains before Christmas, in addition to Train Shows and Excursions during the year. Make sure to visit the museum's popular gift shop with many railroad items for children and adults. For the whole family it will be a day of enjoyment and well spent! |
